I'm sure by this point you've all heard of the earthquake that hit Haiti earlier this week. It's an absolute tragedy, and the people of Haiti need all of the help they can get.
 help_haiti is a fandom auction--of art, fic, graphics, and more--to benefit the Haitian relief effort. I'm offering up some icons, but there are tons and tons of other things that are available; I encourage you to take a look around and consider bidding on something.
If anybody would like to donate to charities independently of the auction, Network for Good has an extensive list (thanks,  happybydefault). Any watchers with ties to Haiti: you are in my thoughts. ♥

| Community Promotion |

Okay, so this isn't an icon post. *ducks garbages* It's a community promo. But really, this has a point! This community is basically the whole reason why I'm any good at graphics and why I even have an icon journal. Plus, it's just a ton of fun, no matter what its reputation may be.
hogwarts_elite is an elite sorting community that's been around LJ for three years now. It's extremely well-run and very organized, and there's always something for everybody. sorting_elite is accepting applications now, and we're ready to start our twelfth term. So come join in the fun. Just be sure to read the rules, the Idiot's Guide to Sorting, and the other resources that are open to you. It's called hogwarts_elite for a reason, and there is always the possibility of being squibbed.
But that being said, it really is a wonderful community and I encourage anybody and everybody to apply. I've met so many of my LJ friends through hogwarts_elite, and they're all wonderful people. The sorting process may be intimidating, but if you follow the rules and write up a good application, chances are good that you'll do well. And hey. You can't get in if you don't apply, right? :D

So I've just recently gotten into the show, and everybody should watch it. It's really good. I'm not usually into the sci-fi sort of things (books, TV shows, movies, whatever), but I LOVES IT.
It's mostly seasons 1 and 2, with one from season 3.
